Collection: Bill Ellingson

William (Bill) Ellingson was born in Forrestburg, South Dakota, on March 29, 1933.

After active duty in the U.S. Air Force, Bill Ellingson (1933–1994) decided to pursue a BFA in drawing and painting at MCAD. He went on to study printmaking at the University of Iowa and earned his MFA in 1963. Ellingson taught printmaking at the University of St. Cloud from 1963 until his retirement.

Ellingson had a very successful career, with his prints being featured in both national and international exhibitions. His work was also selected for the U.S. Department of State’sArts in Embassies program.

His artwork is in the permanent collections of St. Cloud University, Luther College, University of Iowa, Nelson Gallery in Kansas City, and the Mayo Foundation, as well as in private collections throughout the U.S., Japan, Germany, Denmark, and England.
